The Integrated National Systems (INS) Engineering organization within the Payload & Ground Systems division of Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to assume the Engineering Business Partner role for the Space Surveillance & Environmental Intelligence (SSEI) Operating Unit. The position reports directly to the INS Colorado Springs Engineering Site Director.
In this role, the candidate understands the goals and priorities of INS engineering and the SSEI OU organizations, ensuring and supporting excellent program technical execution, providing independent assessment of program technical activities, and coaching program engineering leaders.
The selected candidate will assist the INS engineering organization in multiple activities, and requires a broad engineering knowledge base in Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT), Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and Operations & Sustainment (O&S). The ideal candidate will have experience in Chief Engineer and SEIT Lead roles, and a strong background in engineering management, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with the SSEI OU programs.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Primary engineering liaison to the SSEI OU Director.
Develops a fundamental understanding of technical execution on key SSEI programs.
Proactively mentors and coaches key engineering program leadership (Chief Engineer, SEIT Lead, SW Lead, HW Lead, etc.)
Supports IPRS program Return to Green (RTG) activities for engineering elements.
Ensures program engineering leadership are driving technical RTG plans.
Understands and supports major program/proposal milestones and reviews including startup and independent reviews.
Briefs INS Engineering Leadership staff on key SSEI OU program execution and milestones
Drive common building blocks on programs/proposals.
Reviews and approves OU level ROMs & Proposals.
Leads SAARR and CECAT OU level analysis and documentation.
Attends OU Director staff meetings.
Attends monthly program PRA meetings.
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 12 years of progressive technical experience in engineering.
5+ years of leadership experience in engineering or related technical fields.
Has solid understanding of the engineering development lifecycle across multiple engineering disciplines (SEIT, SW, HW, O&S)
Has knowledge and experience with digital transformation initiatives and development tools.
Must have a current active SSBI investigation and the ability to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance
Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 12 years of progressive technical experience in engineering.
10+ years of leadership experience in engineering or related technical fields.
Understanding of business development and capture strategies, Earned Value Management/Cost Account Management (EVM/CAM), program risk management, and technical, cost, & schedule impacts as it relates to managing engineering projects.
Active TS/SCI security clearance
Salary Range: $161,100 USD – $240,100 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
