Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector is looking for a Systems Engineering Director 2 in our SDS Division. This leadership role is located in Roy, Utah. This is a leadership position with daily executive interactions, and successful candidate will exhibit consistent impeccable judgment and embody the Northrop Grumman leadership behaviors. Candidate should be ready to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations and in a collaborative team setting across all levels of the program both within NGC and in conjunction with the customer program office and broader government test community. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

The System Engineering Director is responsible for process and procedure development, training content, delivery and effectivity metrics, overall employee development in addition to organizational infrastructure for the Systems Engineering directorate.  The Systems Engineering team is responsible for Core Systems Engineering team including overall weapon system requirements development, architecture and nuclear surety, as well as System Management & Assessment team including system logistics, configuration and data management, MS&A, nuclear effects and specialty engineering.

What You Will Get To Do:

Drive systems engineering execution across the SDS Division portfolio of programs while reporting into the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division’s Engineering and Manufacturing Operations organization.

Lead a large team of cross discipline directors, managers, and professionals at various locations responsible for Systems Engineering supporting a portfolio of mission critical programs
Participate in establishing and direct the implementation of integrated system engineering process across the SDS Division, driving consistency and implementation across program/product teams at all national locations and multiple subcontractor locations.
Participate in establishing and direct the implementation of model-based digital engineering processes used in the design and development of the SDS Division, at all levels of decomposition.
Manage all aspects of process development, training and development across the entire Systems Engineering Directorates.
Ensure Systems Engineering product quality and consistency and manage auditing and oversight functions, including metrics development and management.
Interface closely with the product/program team leadership and implement systems engineering priorities for the team

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and 12 years related experience
3 years of experience demonstrating technical decisiveness and people leadership experience in a complex development program with significant systems engineering content.
A current DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Special Access Program access.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Systems Engineering of ICBM’s, missile programs, and/or BMC2 systems.
Top Secret clearance
People skills include effective listening, persuasion, mentoring, coaching, & an ability to attract and sponsor talent.
Experience interacting and communicating at the senior manager level with government counterparts and distinguished visitors.
Working knowledge of systems engineering, particularly Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) and/or Model Based Test and Evaluation (MBTE)
Earned value management system, supplier management, and risk/issue/opportunity management system experience.
A record of leading large teams to successfully deliver first time quality on schedule affordably.

Salary Range: $211,500 USD – $317,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
