Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Staff Aeronautical Engineer to join the Payload Team. This position is in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will be part of the Payload Team (PLT) as a technical leader in the design, build, and test of the Payload Reentry System (PRS) element of the Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) such that it successfully meets requirements as proven by design reviews, detailed analyses, characterization testing, and qualification verification processes. Roles and Responsibilities include:
Has responsibility for controlling the PRS technical baseline. Coordinates requirements development, modeling and analysis, hardware/software design, verification, validation, and integration activities across elements contributing to design and delivery
Ensures that the program is adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, production, test and sustainment of products for our customers and is compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards
Maintains cognizance over technical activities within adjacent Aerospace Vehicle Segment and ensures horizontal integration of the best engineering practices across the company
Continually coordinates with the systems engineering and program integration team leadership to ensure the execution of program statement of work.
Extensive customer, and external stakeholder interfacing and some travel will be required.
Work collaboratively and with influence to gain commitment and performance from all organizations including the Aerospace Vehicle Segment and Program customers, Business Operations and Contracts, System Design, Integration and Test as needed to drive required business outcomes

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 14 years of experience; 12 years with Master’s Degree; 9 years with PhD
Extensive experience leading a technical team to successful product development and delivery
Experience in system Requirements Allocation, Configuration Management, Command & Control Design, Network Analysis, Subsystems Design, and a broad knowledge of end-to-end program lifecycle
Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Demonstrated partnership/collaboration skills; ability to partner cross-IPT/cross-discipline within a team
Demonstrated program technical leadership skills
Strong program execution skills; Demonstrated ability to meet program technical, cost, and schedule milestones.
Ability to integrate, engage, and lead team to perform at top level of performance
Ability to leverage experience/background to bring alternative ideas/solutions to the team
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance, granted or re-investigated with in last 6 years
Must have the ability to obtain Special Program Access Clearance as a condition of continued employment
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Masters degree in STEM discipline
Experience with nuclear command and control ground and launch systems
Experience with re-entry systems and mission payloads
Experience managing a technical baseline with significant subcontractor content
Experience with cyber , nuclear surety, and nuclear hardness design requirements and compliance
Expert understanding of verification and validation principles using Modeling, Simulation and Analysis methodologies
Active Special Program access
Active DoD Top Secret clearance, granted or re-investigated with in last 6 years
Salary Range: $154,300 USD – $231,500 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
