Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division (PGSD) is seeking a Scrum Master with the desire to champion Scrum practices and continuous improvement to support our Remote Sensing Programs (RSP) Business Unit Software team to help mentor projects and programs in their adoption and execution of Agile practices. The Scrum master will provide leadership and oversight of the Agile Framework to ensure operational excellence in product deliveries.
The selected candidate will provide guidance, coaching, mentoring, and help educate the team in Scrum, ensuring Agile process is being followed. The Scrum Master will help remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement. They will facilitate team events and functions such as team planning, team execution, and team demonstrations. This position is in Linthicum, MD.
Most of the work will have to be conducted on-site.
While not all positions will require a clearance to start, all positions are contingent on the candidate’s ability to obtain and hold a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead the efforts of developing Scaled Agile engineering and management best practices, metrics, and audit practices
Conduct Scrum Team training, product backlog and retrospective training, Lean Agile development training
Support software technical disciplines on a Scrum Team
Facilitate Agile ceremonies
Collect and analyze related metrics for trends and indicators, facilitate iteration/increment planning, provide Agile coaching and mentoring at all levels within the organization
Lead the iterative solution lifecycle from executable architecture to maintenance, including concept development, iterative design, production, delivery and deployment
Understand Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Regular interaction with the customer
Basic Qualifications Principal Scrum Master:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline with 5+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience, or Ph.D.
Experience in Scrum Agile framework
Experience mentoring individuals on Agile practices
Minimum of 2 years working as Scrum Master
Practical experience of servant leadership within agile teams
Thorough knowledge of agile principles, practices, and methods, particularly Scrum
Excellent organizational and facilitation skills
Self-starting mentality and willingness to take ownership of difficult challenges
Desire to drive change, implement new ways of working and think “out of the box”
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI
Experience Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence)
Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI
Hold a recognized certification as a Scrum Master such as Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
Experience administering Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence)
Salary Range: $99,800 USD – $149,800 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
