The Instrumentation Engineering Manager leads a lead a large team of Engineers and Technicians installing, testing, and validating a large suite of Flight Test Instrumentation on an air vehicle. Responsibilities will include long range planning, day to day management and execution of instrumentation installation, checkout, test and validation at Palmdale.  

The ideal candidate will implement and sustain a high-performance team consisting of Instrumentation Engineering and Technician professionals that integrate with operations and customer personnel to execute with highly effective results. She/He will coordinate with the subject matter expert engineers that will follow the system from SIL testing to flight test and monitor system health and status during airborne testing. 

She/He must be a proven leader and will be responsible for all technical, cost, and schedule performance for the Instrumentation sub-IPT within the System Test Team IPT.  

The Instrumentation Engineering Manager will ensure configuration control for the instrumentation on the air vehicle is maintained at all times and will enhance customer satisfaction through timely communication, coordination, and progress reporting. He/she will provide resource forecasts to IPT/functional organizations and ensure proper staffing is in place to execute the SOW in accordance with an integrated schedule.  She/He will drive process rigor and ensures compliance to company, program and security requirements.  

This position is located in Palmdale, CA. 

Basic Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree of Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline (STEM) and 9 or more years of experience in Flight Test Instrumentation, Systems Test, or Electrical Instrumentation Design & Integration; 7 years of this same experience with a Master’s degree

Hands-on experience in a leadership role on a recent flight test program

Five or more years of experience as a manager of people

Experience using earned value management systems, and with highly integrated program schedules

The candidate must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills.

An Active DoD Secret Clearance (or equivalent) is required to start, and the candidate must be eligible for Top Secret Clearance and SCI.

Ability to obtain Program Access (PAR)

Preferred Qualifications: 

MS Degree in engineering or management

15 or more years of experience in Engineering, 

Flight Test Instrumentation, System Test, Systems Integration, Hardware Design, or Electrical Design

Program management experience

Experience with instrumentation installation or modification practices that meet DOD standards

Salary Range: $160,200 USD – $240,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
