Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector, Networked Information Solutions Division (NISD), Communications Solutions (CS) Business Unit is seeking a Business Development Director 1.  The selected candidate will provide direct engagement across all priority pursuits for the Communications Solutions Business Unit to ensure that our capture strategies are robust, adequately resourced, executing effectively, and on track to deliver a strong proposal. This role is hands on leading the business development, capture strategy and execution, pipeline, and pursuits. This position reports to the Vice President of Communications Solutions

The primary objective of this role is to develop and execute the strategy, processes, rigor, and customer engagements needed to lead an organization focused on developing, creating and closing new business in a key growth area for the company.  The Director will be responsible for leading a team of business development and capture professionals chartered with delivering an extraordinary customer experience across our customer environments and infusing our strategic focus and messaging into all elements of our customer engagement, pipeline, and pursuits.  The successful candidate will bring a rich experience set that can support the breadth of CS capabilities and demonstrate an ability to engage effectively and efficiently with teams in a highly collaborative model by partnering closely with the Operating Unit leads and the Division Growth and Mission Solutions team.  The candidate will also demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Business Acquisition Process and proven customer engagement and pipeline development/execution success, particularly in competitive environments.  The selected leader will also have a proven track record of driving business through effective strategy and innovation that has led to increased value creation across the enterprise.  Candidate will also be able to collaborate, based on their direct experiences, on overall business deal shaping approaches and pricing strategies.

Responsibilities include:

Providing thought leadership in the successful implementation of the Business Unit’s survivable communications strategy. Lead all business development activities to define new business opportunities that ultimately achieve the growth goals for the Business Unit.
Responsible for the development of customer engagement, messaging, and growth strategies across the Communications Solutions portfolio, in collaboration with the Operational Units, Functions, Division, Sector, and cross-Sector teams.
Responsible for the fiscal management of the business development budget supporting the Business unit.
360 degree customer engagement
Creating, maintaining and implementing a customer engagement strategy and customer visit plan across domestic and international military, government, and industry leadership. Creating and delivering an extraordinary customer experience with follow-up.
Develop, implement and manage a process and strategies for new business capture that results in competitive capture and improved win rate, including proposal management support that ultimately drives growth for the Division.
Knowledgeable in Customer Relationships Management (CRM) tools (e.g. Salesforce) while following the process standards of the Northrop Grumman Business Acquisition Process (BAP).

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline is required and a minimum of 10 years’ of BD/capture or related experience.
Experience with all components of the DoD and military services
Hands-on experience in leading a team and proven track record of winning large, complex opportunities.
Willingness to travel up to 50%
Demonstrated, effective communication skills, with the ability to use them in informing, presenting, negotiating and problem solving with a wide range of people and leadership.
Track record of delivering differentiated and/or discriminating solutions that have led to tangible new business growth.
A results driven attitude and a proven capability of working in a collaborative environment across distributed locations and organizations.
Active Secret Clearance
Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) clearances

Preferred Qualifications:

Diverse functional and line management backgrounds including those with P&L leadership
Experience with international customers and pursuits (i.e. UK, Australia, Japan, etc…)
Agile Experience to include use of Confluence and Jira
Experience with DoD and pursuits
Experience with communications and networking
Active TS/SCI Clearance

This position reports to San Diego, CA, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 3 locations listed above.

Salary Range: $177,400 USD – $278,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
