Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector, Networked Information Solutions Division (NISD), Growth and Mission Solutions is seeking a Business Development Director 1. In this exciting and challenging role, the selected individual will lead forward-looking customer engagement efforts with the Department of the Navy. The primary objective of this role is to create and shape business opportunities that drive growth for the division. The successful candidate will bring a set of skills and experience that support the breadth of NISD capabilities in sensing, connectivity, processing, autonomy, and non-kinetic effects.  This individual will connect division strategy to business development priorities, messaging, and execution.

Acceptable locations for this role are: Northern Virginia, Baltimore, MD, and San Diego, CA. This position reports to the NISD Vice President, Growth & Mission Solutions.

Job Description

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Providing thought leadership in the successful implementation of the division’s connectivity, processing, and intelligence strategy
Lead business development activities to define new opportunities that will achieve growth goals for the divisions
Develop engagement and growth strategies for Navy and Marine Corps customers based on individual and integrated capabilities from the NISD portfolio
Work effectively across sectors, divisions, business units, and functional teams to build a strong opportunity pipeline
Drive long-term transformational and integrated growth opportunities using a portfolio approach
Engage with the complete stakeholder community including COCOMs, component commands, OSD, Joint Staff, Congressional members and staff, thinktanks, FFRDCs, UARCs, requirements writers, resource sponsors, and program offices
Coordinate with business development teams inside business units in a collaborative manner that achieves long-term growth objectives while continuing to grow the existing business
Leverage technical, analytical, and operational expertise from across the division in support of impactful growth opportunities
Support capture and proposal activities with strategies that result in high capture rates that support growth objectives
Use customer relationship management (CRM) tools such as Salesforce while following the process standards of the Northrop Grumman Business Acquisition Process (BAP)

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 15+ years of work experience or Master’s Degree and 10+ years
Experience with naval acquisition and operations
Hands-on experience in leading a high-performing team with a record of success
Effective communication skills with the ability to inform, influence, negotiate, and problem solve
Project management experience
U.S. Citizen with active TS clearance
Willingness to travel up to 25%, depending on location

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of Distributed Maritime Operations (DMO) and Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations (EABO) concepts
Experience with DoD/IC programs in connectivity, processing, and intelligence
Active TS/SCI clearance


This position reports to San Diego, CA, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 3 locations listed above.

Salary Range: $177,400 USD – $278,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
