Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Melbourne, FL.

Position Overview:

  

The selected Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Test Engineer responsibilities will include the support of the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program.  You will also be responsible for scheduling the tests for execution and then will monitor, measure, control and report on the test progress, the product quality status and the test results, adapting the test plan and compensating as needed to adjust for evolving conditions.

Essential Functions:  

Perform test planning, monitoring and test execution activities for program software.
Devise the test objectives, organization test policies, test strategies, and test plans.
Work in a technical team environment characterized by frequently changing tasks, new priorities requiring quick responses.
Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish test and project results with limited oversight and direction.
Estimate testing to be done, and acquire necessary resources to complete in a timely manner.
Collaborate and communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a principal or a Sr. Principal Systems Test Engineer level.

BQs for a Principal Systems Test Engineer are:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 0 years of experience with a PhD.
Experience creating and documenting test plans/procedures, analyzing results and creating reports.
Experience testing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, or C# and Java.
Experience working with UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems.
Experience working in an Agile work environment.
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start.

BQs for a Sr. Principal Systems Test Engineer are:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 7 years of related experience, or 4 years of related experience with a PhD.
Experience creating and documenting test plans/procedures, analyzing results and creating reports.
Experience testing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, or C# and Java.
Experience working with UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems.
Experience working in an Agile work environment.
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or related field
Testing SW for performance and functionality based on requirement specification and ability to identify and document exact sequence of activities desired.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel
Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions based on limited direction and definition
Experience as a lab manager or custodian
Prior experience in a CMMI Level 5 organization
Experience in a Test Lead role.
Experience with Automated Testing
Experience with Missile Defense Systems
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance

Salary Range: $82,000 USD – $123,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,600 USD – $152,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
