Northrop Grumman Space Systems seeks to fill the Sentinel Deputy Program Manager role, Director Programs 2, based out of our Roy, UT location.

Northrop Grumman was awarded a contract for the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel program in September 2020. A program of mega-project scale, competitive flexibility and digital transformation are key to delivering a weapon system that will continue to evolve to outpace the threat and achieve and be affordably maintained and sustained over the expected 75+ year life. The Sentinel program modernizes nearly every facet of the land leg of the nuclear triad, including:

Developing a new intercontinental ballistic missile, including guidance, three stages of propulsion, and a reentry vehicle, and building 600+ missiles (400 deployed + spares for testing)
Completely refurbishing 450 buried launch facilities (silos) spread across ~30,000 square miles in five different states
Developing, building, and populating launch control centers, similar to heritage missile alert facilities, in the different missile wings
Fielding new communications infrastructure and building/consolidating hundreds of support facilities, including for security, training, maintenance, and testing

The Sentinel Deputy Program Manager (DPM) will have accountability for every aspect of day-to-day program execution. The DPM serves an integral role in cultivating the Customer relationship and shaping and nurturing program culture. The DPM leads program management office business battle rhythm across program segments, operations, and functions and will effectively integrate program demand signals to partner with Strategic Deterrent Systems Division (SDSD) functional leadership to ensure required staffing, processes and infrastructure are available to efficiently execute the contract. The Sentinel DPM works closely with the PM to align strategic priorities and tactical tasking and maintains situational awareness of the program and related interests and is granted Sentinel Program Manager Delegation of Authority (DOA). This position reports to the Sentinel vice president Program Manager (PM).

Sentinel Deputy Program Manager responsibilities include:  

Integrated program performance management (cost, schedule, technical, risk & opportunity, quality) to deliver on all contract and AOP/LRSP commitments
Day to day contractual and programmatic change management across all aspects of the Sentinel Program (EMD, Advanced Procurement, and Production)
Integrated program demand planning (staffing, infrastructure, clearances, etc)
Integrated program approach to supplier management to strengthen partnerships and drive performance
Support to strategic planning and professional development / organization efficiency initiatives
Support to profitability reporting and investment planning and execution

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.?? 

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 12 years’ experience (or 10 years with a Masters) in defense or aerospace systems and/or management in development or production projects
3+ years leading and/or managing teams on complex projects
3+ years’ experience in managing programs or subcontracts in excess of $50M, inclusive of cost-type contracts
3+ years experience working with capture teams in developing and submitting competitive and compliant major proposals, including teaming strategies and complex subcontracting strategies
Must have an active and current DoD Secret clearance and be SAP clearable
Ability to travel domestically, up to 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

MS Engineering or MBA
Experience with related to ICBM technologies and products
Leadership experience with new start activities and establishing effective change management processes  
IPT / PM experience across multiple phases of the program lifecycle
Excellent conflict management and negotiation skills
Demonstrated ability to make tough decisions
Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance and additional SAP accesses

Salary Range: $211,500 USD – $317,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
