We have an opening for a Manager of Systems Engineering to lead our qualified, diverse team. We are seeking a team member who wants to solve interesting, complex problems to help protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. The team you will support is located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.

The candidate must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills, and work closely with the ISG COAST IPT Lead. The candidate will be responsible for directing aspects of the Sub-Project’s tasking from design through requirement verification, including Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibilities. This position requires coordination and interfacing with the other Sub-Projects, Systems Engineering, external customers, and site personnel. Candidate will work in a dynamic team environment, ensuring personnel follow well-defined processes. The candidate must have the ability to complete tasks with minimal direction and oversight, and mentor junior engineers. The candidate will also be expected to fill a 20% part-time functional Section Manager role and will be responsible for 10 – 12 systems administrators, network engineers, software engineers, systems engineers, and/or cyber /information assurance engineers. The responsibilities of the p/t section manager role includes: Support functional management activities such as staffing and workload forecast; employee engagement, mentoring and career development; identification and training of skills required to execute on programs; Participate in sourcing, recruiting, onboarding, and performance management; and Support Business Strategy Efforts (including proposals, gate reviews, independent review team, NAR/ICE, as necessary)

Core Responsibilities:

Work closely with the ISG COAST IPT Lead, APM, DAPM, and Subproject Managers (SPMs)
Day to day operations of the technical, schedule, and cost; staffing; providing staff during site installations; supporting organic growth proposals (including CROMs & ECPs), authoring TD/BOEs and proposal development; interfacing frequently with internal and external stakeholders, including cross-program counterparts, Tech Support, and the customer
Setting and operating to program objectives and providing guidance to employees
Planning, risk management, and project performance
Direct team members to perform system buildups, meet deadlines and work within budget
Work in a dynamic team environment, ensuring personnel follow well-defined processes and will be responsible for managing all software development tasks from inception through completion

Basic Qualifications:

Current SCI access or current DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access prior to start date
Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 9 years of relevant work experience; Master’s Degree in STEM with 7 years of relevant work experience; PhD in STEM with 4 years of relevant work experience
Previous ground systems experience with technical background in ground system requirements development, design, software development, software integration & test
Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
Demonstrated ability to develop effective processes, implement process improvements and streamline activities

Preferred Qualifications:

Mission 1 experience
Experience working with internal and external customers
Experience with software and network architecture
Control Account Management (CAM) experience
Experience with Agile and DevSecOps methodologies
Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
Previous software experience working in a C++/RHEL environment
5+ years of previous management experience as a Software Manager, SPM, or Technical Lead a plus
Master’s degree in a relevant technical or management specialty
Leadership role as a Technical Lead, SPM, or Deputy SPM preferred

Salary Range: $147,800 USD – $221,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
