We are looking for you to join our team as an Engineering Lab Manager based out of San Diego, CA. As an Engineering Lab Manager at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You’ll Get to Do:
The Engineering Lab manager will lead a team of approximately 10-15 engineers and technicians working within the San Diego Communication Systems BU. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies. Specific responsibilities include coordinating with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary as well as working to refine the lab operation process and tools utilized for program excellence and design assurance. Also, the manager is responsible for periodic review and update of related Lab Operation process documents, compliance, and support of AS9100 and CMMI audits. Program Execution and Engineering Excellence are our driving forces.
The qualified candidate shall also be a technical performer, working approximately 80% directly on programs involving CNI systems within our CNI OU, representing our Engineering and Sciences organization in the OU. Programs covered by this OU are F-35 CNI programs, F22 CNI programs, CNI Future Product Line, and CNI production and sustainment programs. Experience with mentoring and people management is highly desirable.

Create and maintain forward-looking processes which align to strategic goals.
Must have excellent written and communication skills and be able to work independently and within groups.
Good organization skill and able to provide clear status of lab activities to the engineering team/program managers while adjust tasks to support priority changes per programs.
Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters.
Candidate must have good understanding of systems integration and test, familiar with test equipment and test stations in lab and able to resolve issue in a timely manner.
Candidate must have knowledge of engineering process, be proficient in process development as well as functional organization aspects.
BSEE or related degree, 5+ years of experience, and significant direct experience in the field of Systems Engineering, System Integration and Test as well as program management and engineering lab operations. May consider an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree
Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
Previous experience as a functional manager or technical team leader.
Candidate must be familiar of equipment maintenance process to keep lab operational.
Candidate must have familiarity with the other Engineering disciplines and operation units
Candidate must have knowledge of real-time embedded communication systems
Must have an active or current Secret Clearance and ability to obtain/maintain CNI program SAPs.
Degree in STEM field, with 10 or more years of technical experience and direct management of technicians/engineers.
Candidate should have hands on experience with DoD Communications Systems
Candidate should have direct supervisory experience and/or significant team leadership (IPT lead).
Current direct program duties within the CNI OU, including F-35, F-22 CNI programs.
Familiarity with EVMS Reporting and CAM responsibilities.
Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, and mission assurance.
DOD Secret and SAR highly preferred
Knowledge of F-35 and F-22 communications systems and associated waveforms
Salary Range: $123,200 USD – $184,800 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
