Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Project Manager to support the Test and Evaluation Skills and Training COP. We are looking for a senior level professional to assist with training coordination, training instructor, instructional development, and training administration.

Responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:

Training Coordination

Assist in the administration of training programs including Training Working Groups, running reports, assigning training, budgeting, compliance training, soft skills courses among others to help employee cultivate their skills and knowledge.

Maintain updated curriculum database and training records

Have strong organizational and planning skills

Assist with onboarding new hire program

Assist in mapping out training plans and schedules, for corporate, functional and employee training

Prepare and order educational aids and materials

Gather feedback from trainers and trainees after each educational session and compile data.

Creates purchase orders and following up with departments (Purchasing, Finance, Legal, Accounts Payable) on administrative side of training

Instructional Development

Creates engaging learning activities and compelling course content

Works with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs

Collaborates with content providers (both internal and external)

Assists in setting instructional end goals and creating content that matches them

Analyzes and applying trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design

Provides exercises and activities that enhance the learning process

Creates supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, and games)


Supports the Skills & Training Sub Community of Practice in the administration of the Northrop Grumman’s Learning Management System (Global LX).

Assist employees with Global LX related questions

Executes and maintains company-wide training programs as well as the maintenance of certification/qualification record system

Provide training to employees whose duties include installation, operational checkout, troubleshooting, and maintenance of aircraft systems including fuel

Candidate may analyze current operating problems and future operating requirements to identify training needs and develop training programs

Provides assistance and support to Final Assembly and Flight line Operations in helping them determine their training needs and developing and conducting their maintenance training programs

Basic Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of related training/instructional experience or 7 years with Master’s degree.

Candidate will be capable of writing, editing, and producing materials for technical instruction.

Professional platform skills as well as excellent time management and organizational skills a must.

Ability to effectively present information to multiple audiences (executives, front-line employees, vendors)

Knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially Word, Excel (V look up/Pivot table/Dara Analysis) and Power Point, video projectors, and other computer software typically used in creating training programs

Problem-solving skills vital to assist employees to work through skill applications and role-playing exercises.

Strong collaboration and teamwork skills

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Prior Instructor experience and working with a Learning Management Systems.

Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) computerized systems used in manufacturing experience.

Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, particularly related to military fighter aircraft.

This position reports to Palmdale, CA, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.

Salary Range: $107,000 USD – $160,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
