Oversees and manages all operational aspects of a (one or more) manufacturing and/or production area(s), responsible for the safety of the employees, delivering quality products on time and within customer cost targets, and continuous improvement. Provides leadership direction of design and process development, production, operations, engineering, test and Quality Assurance functions. Manages and presents status on cost, schedule and performance for all projects within the area; assesses issues and develops mitigation plans to meet productivity, quality, cost, and delivery goals.

Job Description

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Manufacturing Operations organization is looking for a Manager Manufacturing Operations 3 to oversee operations activities in the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing areas. The Manager Manufacturing Operations 3 will have organizational responsibility for up to 170 employees including Manufacturing Management and Union represented employees.

The primary mission is to meet or exceed customer requirements by providing quality products on time and within program cost targets, while promoting a lean manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Providing leadership direction in areas such as: Technical Guidance, Process Development, Continuous Improvement, Capacity Planning, Capital & Facility Planning, Cost/ Benefit Analysis, Manpower Planning, Staffing, EAC Execution and ISO9001/AS9100 auditable processes
Managing annual budgetary responsibilities of $7M – $8M
Providing direction to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies
Driving employee efficiency
Meeting product cost and schedule targets
Managing the area to produce quality products
Engaging employees to achieve their highest potential

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9+ years of relevant professional experience
5+ years of relevant experience in engineering or manufacturing
2+ years of experience managing or leading people or projects
Demonstrated ability to effectively and constructively communicate with all levels of Manufacturing, Program, Engineering, Functional Support Management, and Professionals
Experience with resource planning and budgeting
The ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Level Security Clearance, which requires US Citizenship (an Interim Secret clearance is preferred to start)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a union represented environment
6+ years of demonstrated successful people management experience – including experience managing organizations of 60 or more individuals
Experience with circuit card assembly manufacturing
LEAN manufacturing and process improvement experience
Active Secret level security clearance
Hands-on experience developing and managing budgets with responsibility for cost performance
Experience with the following metrics: Performance Index, Test Yields and Rework Hours
Technical STEM degree

Salary Range: $139,000 USD – $208,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
