Cyber Network Engineer/Computer Scientist

Join our elite NAVSEA 05V Carrier Engineering Team as a Cyber Network Engineer/Computer Scientist, where you’ll play a pivotal role in securing the future of Nimitz and Ford Class Carriers. We are looking for a seasoned Cybersecurity Engineer with a passion for network design and risk evaluation in the field of cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities:

Contribute to the Aircraft Carrier Engineering Team by providing valuable cybersecurity insights and risk assessments.
Investigate and resolve cybersecurity challenges on networks and systems, showcasing your exceptional troubleshooting abilities.
Leverage your comprehensive knowledge of network architecture and cybersecurity principles, policies, and standards to make a real impact.
Drive network performance, capacity, security, and scalability improvements.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, fostering a team-focused environment.
Mentor junior team members, share your cybersecurity expertise with peers and program office counterparts.
Travel to the VA Tidewater area occasionally for ship visits and meetings.
Review and enhance technical documentation.

Qualifications:

BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields (MS degree preferred).
10+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, network devices, and services.
DoD 8570.01-m Information Assurance Technical Category Level II or higher certification (or obtain within 6 months of starting).
CISSP, CISM, or CCIE certification.
Experience in DoD or DoN environments.
Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, organizational, and communication skills.
US Citizen with Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Experience:

Involvement with US Navy, USCG, or MSC vessels.
Experience with aircraft carriers.

This position is based at the Washington Navy Yard (WNY). Enjoy flexible work hours while being available during core hours (east coast 0900-1500). Expect to work from the WNY at least three days a week.
