Duties and Responsibilities: The Translator shall support task order requirements when operating in country where the native language is not English. The Translator is to provide the service and convenience of communication amongst all parties. Main duties and responsibilities may entail: translating and producing a variety of general, technical, training, legal and medical documents, materials and script between English and designated language for team and project staff; providing simultaneous interpretations during formal presentations at conferences, during training and meetings on and off sites; reading, translating, and producing a variety of documents, materials, information bulletins, handbooks, correspondence and news releases; preparing drafts and completed copies of proofed translations; producing verbatim translations; reviewing and editing translations for accuracy, context, readability and style; researching reference materials; contacting libraries, and training documents, such as handouts, power-point slides, training schedules, and other training documents that might be provided to students or be used by host government trainers.
The Translator may also be expected to provide simultaneous interpretations using a designated language for environment and area, attend meetings as necessary, translate and interpret minutes of meetings, abstract or summarize materials, use word processing equipment, standard office equipment, plan and conduct workshops as assigned; and travel to various locations throughout Africa.
Minimum Qualifications: At least five years relevant work experience with demonstrated advanced written and oral language skills or credentials; and previously developed and maintained liaisons with coworkers and foreign entities.
