The Private Cloud Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing automation and orchestration solutions for our private cloud infrastructure. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of VMware Cloud Foundation, Dell/EMC, and Palo Alto NGFW products. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of private cloud infrastructure and the ability to design and implement automated solutions that can improve efficiency and reduce the risk of human error.

Responsibilities include:

Design and implement automation and orchestration solutions for our private cloud infrastructure using VMware Cloud Foundation, Dell/EMC, and Palo Alto NGFW products.

Collaborate with the rest of the cloud operations team to ensure that automation and orchestration solutions are aligned with overall cloud strategy and goals.

Work closely with development teams to ensure that automation and orchestration solutions can be integrated with their applications and services.

Monitor and troubleshoot automation and orchestration solutions to ensure they are operating correctly and resolve any issues that may arise.

Continuously improve automation and orchestration solutions by identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.

Keep abreast of new automation and orchestration technologies and trends and make recommendations for how they can be adopted to improve our private cloud infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 7-10 years of experience in designing and implementing automation and orchestration solutions for private cloud infrastructure.

Strong understanding of private cloud infrastructure and the technologies used to support it, including VMware Cloud Foundation, Dell/EMC, and Palo Alto NGFW products.

Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell.

Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible and Puppet.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Strong understanding of IT security best practices and experience with firewall and network security technologies.

Experience with VMware vSphere, vRealize Automation, and vRealize Orchestrator.

Experience with Dell/EMC storage and network technologies and Palo Alto NGFW products.

Experience with cloud automation and orchestration frameworks such as Terraform and Kubernetes.

Experience with cloud management platforms such as vCloud Director and vRealize Suite.

Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.

Recommended Certifications:

VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) in Automation and Orchestration

VMware Certified Professional – Network Virtualization (VCP-NV)

DELL EMC Proven Professional Cloud Infrastructure

Education:  

Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD – 236,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
