Job Description
The Enterprise Services (ES) Controller Organization is looking for a seasoned professional contributor who is a detail-oriented and enterprising to join the General Accounting Team. The ES Controller organization has the overall responsibility for protecting the assets controlled by the Enterprise Services group, and for ensuring the accuracy of the reported financial results and transactions, and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley section 404.
The position will be responsible for managing small projects and processes, reviewing and coaching the work of lower-level professionals, and general accounting support including journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, financial reporting, and audit support. This role requires project management skills, advanced knowledge of the work area, strong analytical skills, the ability to work with detailed data, complex problem-solving skills, creativity, and effective time and resource management skills. This is a critical and challenging role with opportunity for growth.
Responsibilities include:
Managing small projects, specifically related to process improvements and harmonization
Projects will provide exposure to Corporate Treasury, Corporate Accounting, Business Accounting, Business Systems & Transformation (SAP), etc.
Reviewing and coaching the work of lower-level professionals
Supporting the reconciliation activities and close processes of the ES Accounts Payable Accounting Team, General Ledger accounting entries, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Bank Account Reconciliations, Data analysis, and related corrective action associated with the accounting activities above
Provide external audit support, as needed
Working directly with Accounts Payable and Disbursements ES groups
Possibilities of exposure, role expansion, and/or rotational opportunities in all Accounting areas of the ES General Accounting team (Fixed Assets, Indirect Tax, Labor/Payroll, etc)
Required Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge of work area
Project management skills
Analytical, problem identification, problem-solving and decision-making skills of difficult and complex problems, which may require understanding of broader set of issues
Self-starter with the ability to take the initiative and ownership of assignment, work autonomously with limited oversight, and a desire to improve processes
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment; must work well with others
Confidence with the ability to make sound decisions and the capacity to sift through complex information to focus on the critical priorities
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced setting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
Prior experience or knowledge of SAP or other major ERP system
Required Experience and Education
This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field and at least 5 years of applicable experience gained in a Corporate Finance or Accounting environment or an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Previous Raytheon Finance experience a plus
Master’s degree and/or CPA a plus
US Citizenship:
This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
