Role overview:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Training Developer has a primary role in the development of technical training materials and provides Train the Trainer learning in support of end user capability.  Your new role includes technical writing and actively supporting the development of technical writing capability in the Engineering team; delivering high quality technical documentation to meet business and key customer requirements.

Key responsibilities of your new role include

Developing new technical training materials and packages and updating existing materials, by working closely with customer representatives and internal stakeholders; ensuring materials are delivered on time, to required standards and completed in full.
Regularly review the suitability and effectiveness of training materials to introduce new practices or address areas for improvement, as well as, providing training and support to further develop technical writing capability across teams.
Working closely with engineering teams to ensure documents delivered to the customer are of high quality and meet user needs coupled with the delivery of Train the Trainer programs to key stakeholders.
Support the development and implementation of process documents and templates to improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of process documentation and project deliverables within the business.
Develop exemplars and guidance materials to set the standard and support overall improvements in the quality of document deliverables.  Monitor, analyse, measure and report on performance to assess outcomes.
As a subject matter expert and champion of technical writing and documentation standards; provide advice and develop improvements that deliver quality and efficiency for the business.

Skills and experience:

Essential

Certificate IV Training qualifications.
Proven experience developing training materials and delivering training involving complex products in a technical or engineering environment.
Experience and understanding of the Defence SADL (Systems Approach to Defence Learning) or similar.
Excellent communication skills in all forms and media, including verbal, written, professional presentation.
Proven ability to introduce change and improve technical writing standards.

Desirable

Ideally Defence industry experience and familiarity with Australian Army Training processes.
Experience with complex Defence software systems such as the DTCS (Digital Terminal Control Systems), AFATDS (Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System) or other Army Battle Management Systems.
Previous experience developing and delivering training materials to the Australian Defence Forces. 

Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Eligibility can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva  as well as be eligible to be certified in compliance against ITAR technology access requirements.
