Position Overview:

The CNS Traffic Surveillance Group in Melbourne, Florida is seeking to fill a System Engineering II position.  The primary responsibility for this position will be to support the development of new products for the Next Generation Air Transportation Systems and may additionally include support of currently fielded Collins collateral surveillance products. The engineer who fills this position must have strong design and problem-solving skills for hardware, software, and systems. This position will heavily utilize software development and hardware test stations. In addition, the engineer who fills this position will also aid in planning projects to determine the best approach to be taken to accomplish the project goals, will demonstrate a high level of professional competence and knowledge, and must have knowledge of principles and techniques commonly used in systems development and qualification.

Primary Responsibilities:

Expand product and technology domain knowledge and knowledge of hardware / software processes, tools, methods, work flow, and best practices.

Support the development and documentation of new systems requirements based on industry standards.

Design, analyze, test, integrate, qualify and document systems of moderate complexity

Work closely with other engineering disciplines (i.e. mechanical and electrical engineering) to ensure the systems design is appropriate for the project/product design approach

Understand and utilize the appropriate Collins processes and tools during product development

Participate in cross-functional team efforts in integration, pre- qualification and qualification for products and sub-systems of moderate complexity

Contribute to the engineering estimates for limited to moderate scope electrical design problems

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s Degree and less than 12 months of experience

Must be a US Citizen
