Collins Aerospace in Wilson is seeking a highly motivated, driven, results-oriented Sr. Project Manufacturing Engineer to support the manufacturing of fire suppression and detection systems used in Commercial and Military aircraft and vehicles across multiple product lines.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage manufacturing engineering projects associated with the implementation of new equipment and processes from inception through completion in support of improved efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.

Provide cross functional leadership and work directly with all levels of staff to ensure products meet all necessary quality standards while maintaining program milestones.

Identify areas of improvement and ensure measurable implementation and execution

Work collaboratively with all levels of management, personnel, and customers, and have key skills in project management, general business, model/database building, and operational analytics

Investigate root cause of failures/defects and implement corrective action to support continuous improvement

Utilize Lean Manufacturing techniques and statistical analysis methods to improve process/product efficiencies and work flow

Develop improvements to internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines

Facilitate process risk assessment and identification of process failure modes

Maintain and adhere to established procedures work instructions, environmental health and safety requirements to ensure compliance to ISO 9000

Manage and conduct employee training for productivity improvement projects, and mentor fellow engineers and technicians.

Support and participate in the EH&S programs and activities within the company.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or in related STEM field and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience

Proven track record of leadership skills.

Strong working knowledge in Lean Six Sigma tools and applications

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Critical thinking skills paired with strong analytical skills to evaluate and interpret data

Proficiency with MS Office Suite

Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder 

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Aerospace industry

Experience in SAP

Experience in CAD/Solid works

Experience in GD&T, modeling software or tooling design
