Collins Aerospace Air Combat Test & Training (ACTT) Engineering is responsible for all product line and design engineering tasks related to the design, analysis, test and certification of Air Combat Training systems and their integration into the Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) Training Environment. The position is to work in the Mission Systems business unit solving the challenges of developing:
Products needed for next generation, secure aircraft instrumentation
LVC for test and training
Product roadmaps and architectures
The US Training Systems Engineering Team is looking for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our team onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as we provide technical excellence in a rapidly growing Air Combat Training market for system of system requirements, design, verification, accreditation, and sustainment efforts. Our systems engineering team touches all aspects and products within the department with opportunities to influence and own forward looking strategic planning, designing roadmaps and architectures. As platform level systems team, this team has direct customer and end user interaction as well as coordination across subsystem teams and stakeholders. The team culture is high collaborative and uses a tailored version of the Scaled Agile Framework to meet our program goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work as part of the program leadership team for a large program
Force Multiplier in the department
Recognized master at the department level in one or more process or technical areas
Provide technical priority input to customer and program leadership
Provide definition of program level Epics and coordination of decomposition into Features
Lead Platform Systems level design activities and program pursuits
Provide mentoring within the department on best practices
Apply cost and schedule management methods to project activities and bids
Own completion of team sprint goals as part of an agile team
This position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A comprehensive relocation package is available for qualified candidates.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
Must be a US Citizen
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
