Collins Aerospace – Connected Aviation Solutions is currently in need of a Software Developer with experience in developing solutions based in the cloud.  This will require the candidate to be experienced in large system environments, software requirements analysis, development, integration, and support.  The most important experience would be in building highly scalable core infrastructures within the hosting facility and deliver support for that infrastructure.  The candidate should be familiar with one or more PaaS solutions, such as AWS, VMware, Azure, or equivalent.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

They should be aware of the pitfalls of those deployment scenarios and ensure the infrastructure can work around/within those constraints.  Due to our legacy application needs, a mixture of the above deployment models will most likely be used.

Primary Responsibilities:

Developing front end website architecture.

Designing user interactions on web pages.

Developing back-end website applications.

Creating servers and databases for functionality.

Ensuring cross-platform optimization for mobile phones.

Ensuring responsiveness of applications.

Working alongside graphic designers for web design features.

Designing and developing Restful APIs.

Meeting both technical and consumer needs.

Staying abreast of developments in web applications and programming languages.

General programming best practices

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR

Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR

In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

Experience with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Proficiency with server-side languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, and .Net

Experience with Multi-threading applications

Experience in Socket programming

Experience Asynchronous processing of events

Familiarity with database technology such as SQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB, PostGreSQL and MonetDB

Familiarity with JSON, XML and XSD formats, rules and usages

Preferred Qualification:

Experience in continuous integration skills for real-time testing and diagnostics within a cloud environment

Experience in application development and integration within one or more IaaS/PaaS (vMware / Redhat Openshift / OpenStack)

Experience in application development and integration within one or more cloud platform services such as (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud.)

Microservices using restful APIs

Specific knowledge with JavaScript frameworks such as Java script, ReactJS, NodeJS, C#, HTML 5 programming languages

Agile/Srum experience preferred

WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation)

WCF (Windows Communications Framework)

SOA (Service Oriented Architecture)

Experience in working in Linux and Windows environments

MVC (Model-View-Controller) pattern

Experience in interfacing with AWS (Amazon Web Services) rest APIs and vMware rest APIs to instrument resources for monitoring and management

Experience and/or interest in refactoring legacy systems for cloud

Development IDEs Eclipse (Java), WebStorm (ReactJS/NodeJS) and Visual Studios (C#)
