This position is for a Senior Welding Manufacturing Engineer (Welding Officer) that is a subject matter expert in welding and brazing processes, being the advisor and consultant to support operations. Performs conventional to advanced engineering assignments applying concepts, techniques, analysis, and decision tools to promote and implement changes in manufacturing operations.  Checks manufacturability of products and implements manufacturing processes and changes to improve products and reduce costs.

Primary Responsibilities

Performs Manufacturing Engineering assignments under general direction and supervision.
Performs as Subject Matter Expert for welding and brazing processes.
Assesses and checks new designs drawings for feasibility for manufacturing.
Drives changes regarding welding technical requirements.
Specifies how welds shall be made to meet specified requirements.
Provides technical input to procure welding equipment or devices.
Provides technical input for commissioning, marking, or handling of tools and devices regarding welding.
Ensures that weld quality is obtained, and that regulations, standards, specifications, and other client requirements are satisfied
Provides technical input for safety, equipment, and standards.
Leads DCRs, FAIs and releases parts for operations.
Technical consultant to welding processes, environment, qualification, and training.
Trains welders to AWS D17 and our processes
Selection of laboratories for welding joints or seams analysis and approves results.
Set technical requirements for selection of material, storage condition and shelf life.
Defines corrective actions, and root cause analysis with quality management.
Provides advisory to Ops Manager regarding process concerns
Plans the sequence of operations and procedures and documents manufacturing standard work
Validate and approve documentation regarding process
Releases and approves welding and brazing parts for manufacturing processes.
Writes and/or modifies manufacturing work instructions, calibration and acceptance test procedures for welding and brazing
Monitors and ensures mandatory modifications, programs, and bulletins are incorporated or complied with, as required by the customer and the applicable regulatory requirements, to ensure legal compliance and adherence to quality standards.
Audits manufacturability of existing products, and recommends modifications or adaptations to address quality, customer, product, or productivity constraints.
Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables; and services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
Conducts analysis of manufacturing processes and equipment to diagnose failures.
Analyze customer returns for root cause and leads corrective action efforts in cooperation with Product Engineering.
Develops, supports and updates PFMEAs.
Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control through the application of Lean principles.
Research new processes, methods, and equipment and make recommendations to achieve continuous improvement in assigned areas of the factory.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Trained on ISO14731 and AWS D17
Previous experience of welding and brazing operations
Experience of troubleshooting of welding related problems
Ability to provide the status of work assignments at any time and can quickly produce any documentation or information that is needed.
Uses various software packages to maintain and update documents and records
Must have strong analytical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

NADCAP Certification experience
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
AutoCad 2D experience
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data
Lean Manufacturing experience
General PLC experience
