Collins Aerospace is currently searching for a Specialty Systems Engineer with a focus on System Safety, Human Factors, and/or Reliability & Maintainability to join our team in Richardson, TX. We are seeking individuals with the technical skills and personal leadership attributes to support program development through the application of specialty engineering techniques. The successful candidate will participate in all phases of program life cycle, utilizing System Safety, Human Factors , and/or Reliability & Maintainability methodologies as they apply in our systems engineering processes. Key responsibilities include the following: familiarity with military, civil, and industry standards, derivation of specialty engineering requirements, and development of specialty engineering analyses.
**Signing bonuses of up to $30,000 are available for active DoD Top Secret security clearance holders.**
Primary responsibilities:
Supporting design and development teams by developing, assessing, and verifying system safety, human factors, and/or reliability & maintainability related requirements for mission-critical systems
Identifying, evaluating, and mitigating hazards and risks associated with mission critical systems
Developing Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Safety Assessment Report (SAR), Hazardous Materials Management Program (HMMP), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessment (PSSA), System Safety Assessment (SSA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and/or Software Safety
Developing Human Factors best practices for operator and maintainers, Human Factors Engineering Analyses , and Human Engineering Design Approach Document – Operator/Maintainer (HEDAD-O/M)
Developing Reliability and Maintainability Predictions, Failure Modes, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Maintainability Demonstration
Familiarity with MIL-STD-882 (DoD System Safety Standard Practice), SAE ARP 4761 (Civil Aviation Safety Assessment Guidelines / Methods), MIL-STD-1472 (DoD Design Criteria Human Engineering), and/or MIL-HDBK-217F (Reliability Predictions for Electronic Equipment)
Pursuit capture phase of a program by determining appropriate BOE (basis of estimates) for bids and proposals
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact and build trust with team members from many different backgrounds, including engineering management, engineering teams, program management, business development, support groups, and subcontractors
Basic Qualifications:
Must Be a U.S. Ciizen
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, with knowledge of how to apply system safety, human factors , and/or reliability & maintainability engineering principles and best practices
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of systems architectures and designs
Understanding of military aircraft-related missions, functional operation, performance specifications, and verification and validation (V&V) techniques
Familiarity with Control Account Management (CAM) within the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) framework
Familiarity with agile development and model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
Familiarity with DOORS, Cameo, and/or Atlassian (ALM) tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
Strong presentation skills with the ability to present to a variety of audiences
