Senior Software Engineer – Autonomy Systems (Onsite)
The Autonomy & Mission Engineering Solutions Department (AMES) is seeking a dynamic Software Engineer to support Autonomous and Unmanned Systems. The successful candidate will have a passion for innovation and help mature new technology and capabilities into systems solutions; self-starters who learn quickly and who do well in the absence of detailed instructions will thrive. This role would be responsible for supporting the development of emerging technologies and differentiators into our Mission Systems solutions on key programs within the autonomous & unmanned markets. This includes development, integration, and test of autonomous systems and behaviors, advanced communications management, vehicle navigation and control, and other advanced system technologies.
The successful candidate will be part of a distributed team composed of professionals from several disciplines and must have the ability to function well, both alone and with others, and have strong interpersonal skills. This position may require occasional travel (up to 10%.). This position does require that candidate has a final US DoD security clearance, or ability to obtain a final security clearance (US Citizenship is required) in order to access classified information.
Job Responsibilities:
Work with multidisciplined teams and utilize software engineering methodologies for full stack development of complex autonomy application software.
Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including business development, program management, product-line engineers, hardware engineers, software engineers, and customers.
Actively assisting in or leading the development of technical proposals during the bid and proposal cycle.
Participating in program level cost estimates during the bid and proposal cycle.
Capable of estimating, tracking, and communicating cost, schedule, and risk in support of program earned value metrics.
Good written, verbal, and presentation skills.
The successful candidate will have the ability to function well, both alone and with others, and have strong interpersonal skills.
This position may require occasional travel (up to 10%).
Position requires that candidate has a final US DoD security clearance to access classified information.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Proficient in Java, C++, and Python
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Agile development methods, including Scrum or Kanban, automated testing, embedded software development, and continuous integration preferred.
Experience with containerized environments and orchestration software such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Demonstrated experience with tools such as JIRA, Git, and Subversion
Experience writing and interpreting requirements for software development.
Ability to perform the logical and systematic conversion of portfolio needs into software and system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Experience working on previous Science and Technology programs or Programs of Record.
Prior experience of software integration onto aircraft for flight testing.
Prior experience developing software on SWaP-C constrained platforms with an understanding of processing requirements and limitations.

UAS Command and Control (C2) Systems
Autonomy Algorithms
Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC)
Flight Management Systems (FMS)
Sensor Fusion / Sensor Systems
Knowledge of CODE, FACE, and/or OMS
