Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Programmer Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (ManTech) who will be supporting the fabrication of advanced composite structures used on commercial and military platforms. You will create numerically controlled (NC) programs for custom CNC machines and robots; including automated fiber placement, 5 & 6 axis mills, and robotic cells. Creation of NC programs will focus on quality, cycle time reduction, and cost reduction to support company goals. You will also analyze operations information and make the appropriate changes to equipment, processes or documentation to solve problems, improve efficiency and part quality. In addition, you will work alongside an international multi-discipline team of engineers on a variety of tasks related to composite component manufacturing. The candidate selected for this position must be able to work onsite, and is based out of Riverside CA with periodic travel to the Foley AL, Chula Vista CA, San Marcos TX, and/or Mexicali MX facilities and/or international travel (20% travel). Relocation assistance is available for the selected candidate.
Primary Responsibilities
Preparation and development of numerical programs used to drive NC and CNC equipment/machines/robots with minimal supervision.
Interpret technical drawings and 3D models
Use CATIA V and CAD/CAM software to model cutting paths, program machines accordingly and simulate part programs
Create inspection programs to ensure products meet design specifications
Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality
Consider tools required to cut particular materials and program machines accordingly
Liaises closely with manufacturing, quality and operations in the planning, design, development and utilization of NC programs
Creates work instructions for machinists to load/unload machined parts onto CNC equipment and also specify cutters used to machine parts.
Interface with operations team from various value streams for communication on new program requests and immediate needs. Develop and manage NC program schedule.
Ensures sequences in manufacturing processes and product builds are followed and comply with Environmental Health & Safety and Quality requirements.
Investigates root cause of process failures or quality issues and develops go-forward approach.
Uses data analytics / statistical process control (SPC) for productivity, First Pass Yield (FPY) and business unit targets and improvement.
Engages in problem solving initiatives & challenges status quo (e.g. root cause and corrective action investigations, OEE, FPY, customer escapes)
Interfaces with fellow manufacturing engineers, structures design engineers, engineering management, operations, shop floor personnel, and external Travel will be required to other Collins facilities for equipment installation, testing and support.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Experience working in a production and/or manufacturing environment, process improvement (i.e. cycle time improvement, cost reduction and/or quality improvement etc.)
Experience troubleshooting machinery such as PLCs, Robotics, and/or new equipment.
Experience Preparing and developing numerical programs used to drive NC and CNC equipment/machines/robots with minimal supervision.
Experience interpreting technical drawings and 3D models
Experience with CAD/CAM software to program machines accordingly and simulate part program
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the aerospace, automotive, or biomedical fields
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, ACE or CORE
Experience with Siemens, Kuka, Allen Bradley PLCs and Fanuc robots.
Experience with implementing automation solutions processes
Proficient in CATIA V, Roboguide, Delmia, Studio 5000, Minitab software

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD – 161,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
