The Hoist & Winch business unit at Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer. The ideal candidate will have experience in electronics design (motor controllers, power supplies, EMI filters, etc.) for AC/DC motors for commercial and military hoist and winch products. He/she must be able to design solutions that meet aircraft power/EMI requirements described under DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810 and is responsible for requirements analysis and decomposition, sub-system and circuit design, simulation, and design verification test. The Senior Principal Engineer will work with other experienced hardware engineers, will have strong written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical approaches, trade-offs, risk assessments, and recommendation and must be capable and interested in overseeing and mentoring a group of engineers and their designs.

Primary Responsibilities:

Mentors, leads, directs, evaluates, and develops a team of varying levels of electrical engineers and technical and administrative support staff to ensure that electrical engineering operations are completed on-time, within budget, and as per the set goals. Work with engineers supporting, developing and nurturing talent.

Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document control electronics (and related analog and digital) circuitry. This circuitry will dominantly involve motor drive, sensor interface, and controller circuits.

Oversight and guidance of the architecture and maintenance of the electrical interface control documentation.

Lead circuit card development through its design phases, from requirements definition through initial integration testing.

Produces products according to specifications, using the most cost effective and efficient means. Analyzes and evaluates new or improved electronic components.

Typically Requires:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience 

Qualifications You Must Have:

Must be a US person/permanent resident “green card” holder.

Preferred Skills:

Exceptional electronics design skills and experience in aerospace products.

Power electronics and BLDC motor control experience.

Experience with Military/Commercial specifications. Not limited to DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810.

Experience designing products that are qualified for flight or military use.

Strong and confident negotiator at all levels.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD – 236,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
