We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of experienced systems, hardware, software and project engineers in Heidelberg, Germany. It requires a strategic focus to lead program pursuits and set direction for future systems. Success in this role is measured through exceptional program performance, continuous innovation, and the development of the team members.
The key responsibilities and attributes for this position are:
Lead avionics system development programs successfully
Manage scope, schedule and budget for avionics development
Identify, recruit, retain and develop engineering talent across
Set priorities, allocate tasks, identify and react to complex project problems and recommend solutions
Responsibilities:
As Senior Engineering Manager – Avionics Systems, you
Provide leadership and technical direction for engineering activities and participate in team’s technical activities to coach, support and influence your team.
Take responsibility for success in planned milestones and activities of your team in regard of budget, schedule and performance.
Contribute directly to department strategy to ensure that the organization’s immediate and long-term goals are achieved.
Oversee and participate in the development of engineering bids to ensure success.
Actively address each employee’s performance, support career development needs, identify skill gaps for current and future needs, develop gap closure plans.
Develop a positive and trustful working relationship with our international colleagues and are committed to travel occasionally across our different locations.
Continuously develop improvements in methods, tools, process definitions and design strategies.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience or advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience or experience in a comparable role
EU citizenship or citizenship of a NATO member state required
Written and spoken business and technical English language skills at B2+ level or above
Strong organizational skills
Enthusiasm for analyzing and solving problems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Experience/ Qualifications:
Experience with product design and development life cycle including requirement capture, detailed design, and verification activities focused on hardware devices
Engineering management experience in a project / program environment
Experience in leading teams in a formal engineering manager role
Experience in working within a formal engineering process-driven environment
Experience with ARP4754 development and verification process
Experience with DO-178 development and verification process
Experience with DO-254 development and verification process
Written and spoken business and technical German language skills
