Collins Aerospace is seeking to hire a Senior Design Engineer who will work in Landing Gear (LG), and report to the Chief of Design. The Principal Design Engineer will support the division wide (design) engineering organization via design audits, design philosophy development, design engineering standard practice development, maintenance, and training. In addition, this individual will also be engaged in the development of the technology roadmap and progression of technology development goals. 

LOCATION: HYBRID to local Fort Worth, TX Location

Required to work on-site as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

Acting as a Landing Gear Subject Matter Expert:
Support the development of new Landing Gear and Actuation designs via the implementation of robust internal design review processes and standard design practice adoption.
Continuous Improvement (RCCA) investigation and Product Safety review participation, and design staff mentoring coupled with concurrent guidance and input throughout all phases of product design and in-service support (i.e.: troubleshooting).
Supports ownership, development, and maintenance of the Landing Gear Engineering Design Manuals
Ensures knowledge of and understanding of the manual content by coordinating/ conducting training as necessary.
Responsible for methodical and period review for applicability and required updates ensuring linkage to corrective actions, lessons learned, innovation and technology progression.
Supports the Chief Innovation Engineer relative to the investigation of, development, and management of new technologies.  
May act as a project lead for selected technology development efforts. 
Support and trouble-shoot any in-development and/or in-service technical product issues as requested/required.
Act as a resource to offer or evaluate new ideas aimed at solving challenges or needs as brought forth by the business.
Be an integral team member in all Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activity along with other members of the Chief Engineering Office.
Aid in problem resolution and actively review/participate in Engineering investigations to ensure robust Root Cause and Corrective Action closure.
Responsible for coordinating and performance of periodic audits of designers within the project teams to ensure compliance with released standards.
Acts as mentor to less experienced design staff, including coaching as required. 

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience OR
In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
Experience in the design of landing gear, including the integration of complex mechanical/hydraulic aerospace systems
Must meet all requirements under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Must be US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

Comprehensive knowledge of Aerospace Landing Gear Design, Qualification, analysis techniques and manufacturing methods
Demonstrated competence in configuration of mechanisms with complex motion.
Knowledge of stress/fatigue/performance analysis of aerospace products
Strong understanding of various traditional Manufacturing Processes and cost drivers associated with each.
Strong understanding and efficient application of GD&T
Strong fundamental understanding of aerospace hydraulics and associated components (I.e.: Aerospace Fluids, Sealing, Valves, actuators).
Proficient CATIA V5 skills (Design, Assembly, FTA, Kinematics)
Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
Analysis Software (I.e.: ABAQUS, MATLAB) considered a strong asset.
Knowledge of Composites/Additive Manufacturing considered a significant asset.
