Principal Thermal Fluids Research Engineer (Hybrid)

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Collins Aerospace is one of the world’s largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products.  The Intelligence, Surveillance & Space Systems business unit provides products and services to global government and commercial customers that enable mission success in the harshest environments of space, in the air, at sea, and on the ground.  We design and manufacture active thermal control systems and fluid management systems for space applications.  The thermal-fluids research engineer will be responsible for early research, design, and development testing of new active thermal control and fluid separation concepts as well as support the transition from development products to production and be a technical interface with customers.

Role Responsibilities:

Researches active thermal control and fluid separation technologies for environmental control and life support systems
Performs analysis and provides design direction
Writes test plans and procedures
Directs laboratory technicians
Tests active thermal control and fluid separation components and systems
Writes technical reports
Communicates complex technical information with project teams and management

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required 
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Preferred Qualifications:

Mechanically inclined
Working proficiency with MS Office Suite
Strong attention to detail
Ability to build positive relationships
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Promoting teamwork and an inclusive environment
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Experience with 2-phase fluid flow and systems
Experience in an R&D laboratory or production support environment
Experience with advanced fluid separation technologies
