We’re looking for an experienced system engineering professional who is interested in working together with others to achieve excellence in design and efficient lifecycle execution. This position is responsible for working closely with systems engineering teams to provide quality-focused technical and process oversight of product developments throughout their lifecycle. As a Design Assurance Center team member, you will help ensure designs meet quality expectations, as well as customer, regulatory, and other requirements, and influence the adoption of engineering best practices to identify and eliminate defects before delivery.
This position requires the applicant to have demonstrated experience in system development process and methods, including planning, requirements capture, implementation, validation, and verification.
Job Responsibilities:
LEAD DESIGN QUALITY ENGAGEMENT. Serve as the primary Quality point of contact for assigned engineering projects. Develop project-specific Quality plans for new product developments. Assist with Engineering project planning activities, ensuring plans account for lessons learned. Collaborate with other Quality Subject Matter Experts to ensure appropriate technical engagement with projects. Represent Design Quality at customer events, customer audits, internal audits, and 3rd Party Certification audits.
ASSESS ENGINEERING EFFECTIVENESS. Ensure engineering efforts are performed effectively and efficiently, meeting customer, company, and applicable regulatory requirements and quality expectations. Participate in planning, requirement and design reviews, test readiness reviews, and other project reviews and team meetings.
MENTOR TEAMS. Mentor engineering teams as needed throughout the development lifecycle in the areas of process, tools, design quality, and regulatory requirements to ensure robust and problem-free delivery.
EVALUATE PROJECTS. Perform Quality assessments to determine the health of development projects using objective criteria. Analyze project data for trends and systemic issues and produce metric reports for management review. Employ methods such as root cause analysis.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have hands-on experience as an engineer on a design & development project, including experience from planning through verification.
Experience creating and following a documented development process.
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience applying industry and regulatory standards such as DO-178B/C, SAE ARP4754A, and/or AS9100D to design and development projects
Experience working in an Agile development environment, e.g., SAFe
Experience supporting customer audits, and AS9100D audits
Requirements Management experience with DOORS and JAMA
Proficient with Atlassian Development Tools, e.g., JIRA
Experience with Subversion Configuration Management
