We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer for our Avionics Systems and Software Integration Services Team based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The software engineer will work in a team of software and systems engineers driving the solution test platforms for many avionics teams. The team supports Avionics and Mission Systems integration and systems level testing & verification via simulated, emulated, real, virtual, and rehosted software of airplane wiring, hardware in loop, & flight deck environments. Tools suites control static/dynamic simulation, fault injection, stimulus via real and virtual I/O (analog/discrete/power/A429/ethernet/1553/etc) and physical breakout access. This is a great role to get experience across the entire breadth of our Avionics organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
Lead design, build and integration of avionics test stands and system integration facilities
Report program status (schedule, budget, staffing, issues, and accomplishments) to project leadership
Design, code, test, and provide ongoing support for simulation and test software to meet technical and customer requirements
Lead application of integration of DevOps tools and processes in avionics lab and applying technologies such as Labnet, Jenkins
Develop innovative tools and testing infrastructures that support automated build and continuous integration and test using a variety of languages including Python, C++, and Java
Integrate software and hardware solutions in avionics test stands and systems rigs
Collaborate using software configuration management tools and processes
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR
In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Demonstrated ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and develop solutions
Ability to work independently and make sound ethical decisions that drive results
C / C++ programming experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DO-330 qualified tools used in automated testing
Experience with software engineering processes and procedures, including writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing, writing test cases and test procedures, and software delivery support
Experience leading a team of engineers
Experience managing project schedule and budget
Familiarity with export classification of technical data and commodities
