Collins Aerospace’s Global Engineering Center in Puerto Rico (GEC-PR) seeks candidates with proven experience in wireless system & networks design to work on existing and next generation of commercial and military technologies and applications.
The successful candidate shall be able to demonstrate a strong mix of academic background and applied experience in the design, prototyping, and demonstration of innovative wireless communications systems and their related networks, and a passion for applying these skills within the aerospace domain.
This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location but can begin working remotely, within Puerto Rico. Candidate must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Candidate must be able to partner with universities, government agencies, national labs, and professional organizations to meet organizational objectives within time and budget constraints.
This is a research-orientated role to shape future aerospace technologies. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate strong capabilities applicable to one or more of:
Analysis, simulation, and prototyping of physical layer techniques for wireless, wired, or optical communication systems, in both indoor and outdoor environments.
SDN-based approaches for dynamic optimization of network architecture & orchestration of resources within high-assurance wireless and wired networks.
Prototyping and evaluation of high-assurance communication system on high-performance embedded and SDR-based platforms.
Primary Responsibilities:
Contribute to a growing research agenda for future aerospace systems alongside the Collins Aerospace Advanced Technology research community.
Support R&D activities within an international engineering community, including technology development within collaborative multi-national research programs.
Provide competitive advantage for Collins Aerospace business units as part of a multidisciplinary and international team.
Must be able to travel 20% of the time.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience OR
In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Effective communication and presentation skills in English (verbal and written).
Candidate must be a U.S Citizen.
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering
Hands on experience in telecommunications.
