The Integrated Project Team Lead supports military and commercial program (s) for primary electric power generation. In this high visibility role, the Integrated Project Team Lead will direct an engineering team on product field support activities, and the development and qualification of design improvements on existing products.
The Integrated Project Team Lead will support new technology development programs for primary electric power generation. A successful candidate would be one willing to take on new and/or mature programs, bringing new and innovative ideas to planning and executing and have a track record of progressive technical and project leadership. Management encourages improvement of the designs and processes. This is a lead role in engineering which offers opportunities to work with multiple cross-functional team members as well as management and customers.
Hybrid:
Report onsite weekly (2-3 days per week average)
Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work a hybrid schedule reporting on-site as needed
This role is eligible for relocation, when qualified
Primary Responsibilities:
Creating a project plan and executing a project by leading a cross-functional engineering team (typically 5 to 8 members), providing both technical and project oversight.
Interfacing with internal stakeholders such as the program office and executives, as well as external stakeholders such as industry customers, government agencies, and suppliers.
Maintain program schedule, resource demand, budget and EVMS (earned value management system) tools
Proactively identify project risks, develop robust mitigation plans, and lead the timely execution of those plans.
Participate in technical design discussions and lead customer presentations
Adherence and development of engineering standard work
Provide timely and effective communication to management, suppliers, the engineering team, and customers
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR
In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering degree or MBA degree combined with an undergraduate engineering degree
Experience in project engineering for complex mechanical or electrical products
Experience working with an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) or equivalent project financial management methods
Design and test experience with electric power products such as electrical generators, motors, or hybrid drivetrain systems in aerospace or a closely related industry
Experience with a variety of electrical machine topologies
Design and test experience with mechanical products in aerospace or a closely related industry
Experience collaborating with internal and external customers on the integration of mechanical and electrical systems with aircraft engines and/or airframes
Familiarity with Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) and experience maturing emerging technologies to higher TRL
