Rockwell Collins Inc. d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Principal Engineer, Software Engineering in Melbourne, FL.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop, coordinate and conduct complex tests.

Debug control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.

Liaise closely with other project team members in the planning, design, development and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software to ensure smooth operations on software engineering activities.

Recommend changes in the selection and application of software production components to improve and develop software engineering activities.

Implement major components.

Present design review.

Design and implement build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and function.

Determine end user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition.

Ensure hardware and software standards are met.

Required Qualifications:

At least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 5 years of experience with Software Engineering in the Avionics industry. In the alternative, a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 7 years of progressive experience with Software Engineering in the Avionics industry would be acceptable.

At least 5 years of experience with the full lifecycle software development process (software requirements, design, implementation, and verification)

At least 5 years of experience with embedded software development for Avionics/Aerospace domain

At least 5 years of experience with DO-178B/C certification guidelines for showing compliance to applicable airworthiness regulations for the software aspects of airborne systems and equipment certification
