The Manufacturing Program Specialist (MPS) acts at the program or product level to support product transition from Design & Development into Manufacturing/Build. They work alongside the Operations Program Manager (OPM) throughout the life of the project as directed by the Collins Management System.
The MPS will collect and report data, create project documentation, track action items, and use risk management and change management tools. MPS participates collaboratively with project teams as well as working independently, to aid execution of project activities and hardware. The MPS is involved in all phases of the product development lifecycle including bids and proposals, design and development, prototype build, test and integration, and transition to production. The MPS will support a fast-paced, high tech product development requiring a high level of organization and strong communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supports Integrated Project Team and Operations Program Manager (Ops Lead) during product development by managing hardware builds and project tasks
Manages and Communicates material availability, resource planning, task completion, and quality performance
Manages and Communicates implementation of change orders
May lead or participate in product transition planning and development activities prior to Gate 4.
Ensures that all resources are in place to support the product transition through Gate 5
Performs detailed planning of milestones and acts as Control Account Manager (CAM.).
Collaborates with Production Control Support, Procurement Support, and Master Scheduling to ensure that material master data is accurate and strategic
Collaborates and Communicates with Program and Engineering support
Arranges for and facilitates Knowledge Exchange meetings.
Captures “lessons learned” for major programs.
Supports the successful completion of MRL scoring and Gate 5 readiness.
Ensures that producibility reviews and testability reviews are held.
Ensures applicable policies and procedures for delivery are followed.
Ensures tactical transition activities are completed by the team including:
DFM/DFT reviews
BOM reviews
MRL Assessments
Liaison with practitioner level engineers
Liaison to receiving production team
Work Instruction creation
Test Equipment checkout
Test Procedure creation
Takt time/Standard work definition
Validate demand plans and delivery dates
Manage Product Schedule
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a US Citizen
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
