Collins Aerospace has an immediate opening for a Labor Relations Manager (individual contributor), supporting our Windsor Locks, CT campus in our Power & Controls (P&C) business. In this role, you’ll promote a positive working experience for our local employees, develop strong relationships with your HR peers, business leaders and local union leaders. You’ll implement key strategies focused on employee engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. You will also implement the functional labor relations strategy and maintain positive working relationships, with both management and the union, through coaching and guiding leaders on employee and labor relations issues. Additionally, you will provide contract interpretation expertise, grievance management, prompt, thorough, and objective employee and grievance investigations, as well as support compliance initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity as a member of the Labor team to work with multiple segments of the business and drive change in culture, process improvement, employee engagement and labor segments.  In this high visibility role you will work with a collaborative, dynamic HR team in an entrepreneurial environment while owning the labor segment for your designated client group on-campus.  As the Labor Relations Manager you will gain exposure to SMEs in all aspects of HR and the business through projects and assignment inside and outside of the labor space. 

In addition, this role will provide strategic and day-to-day Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) support which will include the execution of HR processes and activities to support designated customer groups within the P&C Operations organization. The HRBP will collaborate with the business as an advisor and architect on topics including organizational effectiveness, change and talent management, organizational learning and development, performance management, DE&I and total rewards.  Additionally, through partnership with other HR Leaders, Business Partners and COEs, this position will provide leadership and support in the execution of strategic HR initiatives such as workforce planning, succession planning, employee engagement, employee relations and talent development.

This position will be worked primarily onsite in Windsor Locks, CT with one day a week remote. Relocation assistance available.

Primary Responsibilities:

Partner with the site leadership team to create and deliver proactive labor strategies

Administer, coach and train supervisors on executing the collective bargaining agreement

Research and prepare arbitrations and labor litigation cases

Lead grievance process and identification of broader resolutions

Research and investigate complex labor and employee issues, and if necessary, coordinate efforts with corporate HR and/or legal on recommendations

Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws through appropriate program and process management

Provide consultation and mediation regarding work-related issues, conflicts, and discipline policy/procedures questions, contract interpretation

Create and deploy communications which will inform management of pertinent work force issues and concerns

Work in partnership with site and functional leadership to develop and implement HR programs, including engagement actions, that support business goals

Utilize critical thinking skills when assessing issues; focusing on creative and fiscally responsible solutions to meet employee and business needs

Champion continuous improvement initiatives

Ability to travel up to 5%

HR Functional Strategy Execution

Coach, partner and counsel leaders on topics from team effectiveness and talent development to culture transformation and diversity, equity and inclusion

Maintain a strong partnership with Collins HR colleagues, including HR Partners, Communities of Expertise and People Services, to efficiently support business needs

Responsible for building organization and leadership development capabilities through the delivery and evaluation of leadership activities, tools and assessments aligned to the Leadership model, business strategy and operational goals.

Lead HR core processes including performance management, change management, succession planning, salary planning, and incentive compensation for their respective client group

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience 

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

This position will be located in Windsor Locks, CT; candidate must be local to the site or be willing to relocate

2+ years of experience working with a union-represented population

2+ years of experience working within a matrixed environment
