The Avionics Electronics Solder Technician is responsible for repair, modification, and some limited disassembly and reassembly of complex electronic equipment in accordance with Collins Aerospace Workmanship and Quality Standards under normal supervision.

This is a 2nd shift position with the following schedule: Monday-Friday,  4:00 PM-12:30 AM

Job Responsibilities:

Performs miscellaneous repair and modifications on a limited variety of electronic equipment.

Disassembles mechanical and electrical units, replaces or adds components, subassemblies, cabling, and wiring and reassembles unit. Works from Overhaul Manuals, Service Bulletins, schematics, wiring diagrams, job write-ups or oral instructions.

Conduct a variety of functional tests to check operation of equipment and systems.

Maintains quality in the modification assembly or repair of equipment based on a good working knowledge of Collins Workmanship Standards.

Records results of repair and modifications and accounts for time required to perform each task on Service Worksheet.

Performs minor mechanical operations on units and subassemblies according to component location diagrams, sketches and X-Y coordinates.

Knowledgeable of Service Center Operating Performance Goals and impact on other Service Center Operations.

Communicates problems/observations effectively with supervision.

Understands safety requirements and performs duties in accordance with all safety procedures. Participates in facility safety program.

Ability to obtain own tool box and basic set of hand tools.

May be required to perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

Typically requires HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.

Must have prior soldering experience in related environment.

Experience reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics.

Possesses a working knowledge of standard test equipment.

This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Preferred Qualifications:

Troubleshooting and testing of electrical equipment and systems.

Basic understanding of advanced test equipment functions.
