We are currently searching for a Sr. Software Engineer to join our team in Sterling VA. Employing some of the most talented dedicated people on the planet is not by chance. This software engineering position is within the Simulation Training Solutions (STS) business area. STS develops and manufactures simulators and training systems for both military and commercial customers. Devices range in complexity from desktop training all the way up to high fidelity weapon system and full-flight training systems including full visual motion and simulator interoperability.

In this position, you will design, develop, and deploy highly configurable and scalable infrastructures to facilitate Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) of training device software.  You will interface closely with other agile software development teams to understand their needs and help improve development, integration, and deployment efficiency across the entire department.  Technologies include C/C++ & Python code, Ansible playbooks, virtualization/containerization, VR, Jenkins/Bamboo, GIT, SVN, Kubernetes, and others.

Primary Responsibilities:

Support and develop automation solutions that enable our teams to build and deploy code efficiently and consistently.

Maintain program’s CICD pipeline.

Guide teams in designing, building, testing, and deploying changes to existing software.

Troubleshoot difficult problems with the build chain & CICD pipeline tools.

Improve the program’s CICD pipeline infrastructure and security posture and help incorporate several Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies to better serve our internal and external customers.

Identify manual processes that can be automated with recommendations for strategy and improvements.

Help define department-wide deployment and integration processes and automation objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.

Experience with C/C++ and Python programming languages

Experience developing or maintaining a CICD pipeline and automated testing of software.

Experience with one or more Infrastructure as Code technologies

Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. 
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Familiarity with Linux and Windows development environments

Candidate exhibits leader-like qualities and has a willingness to share their knowledge and build up their peers.

Agile software development experience

Experience with virtualization technologies, microservices, containerization

Familiar with web technologies and front-end languages such as HTML, ReactJS, NodeJS, Rest API

Experience with Databases (SQL & NoSQL)

Active DoD Security Clearance (within 24 months)
