The Collins Aerospace Integrated Strategic Solutions Engineering (ISSE) team is looking for an exceptionally motivated Software Engineer that is passionate about designing and implementing mission critical software for military customers in a highly technical environment.
As a Software Engineer, you will develop and validate software for communication and control mission systems used on our military customers’ aircraft and ground stations. This opportunity has the potential to support multiple programs for the United States Air Force and Navy. Primary responsibility will be to focus on customer needs and requirements to design, develop, document, integrate, and test software solutions for complex systems where the ability to execute the mission is paramount. This position will also be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and correcting technical problems with existing software systems in an integrated lab environment.
Projects span the entire development lifecycle, including requirements definition, use case development, software design and development, unit testing, integration, and verification testing. The candidate will work closely with fellow systems and software engineers on scrum teams, as well as Cyber Security Engineers, Technical Project Engineers (PEs), Product Line / Program Management, and support staff to assure product reliability and customer needs are met. This position will support defining the future of Air Force and Navy defense systems from Richardson, TX.
**Signing bonuses of up to $40,000 are available for active DoD Top Secret security clearance holders.**
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with multidisciplined teams and utilize software engineering methodologies for full stack development of complex mission critical software.
Derive and write requirements based on customer specifications.
Create software designs using Model Based Systems Engineering principles and UML diagrams.
Interpret and implement software requirements and designs in new and existing baselines.
Create and execute functional tests for the purpose of software validation in a lab environment.
Participate in peer reviews of code and related documentation.
Communicate and collaborate with senior and principal level engineers.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
Minimum 7+ years of experience in software design, integration and test utilizing Java, C, C++ and/or C#, or similar languages.
Previous experience working on embedded software systems.
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Ability to document and effectively communicate software approach, constraints, design and rationale to various audiences and multi-disciplined teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Software development experience in a DoD environment preferred.
Experience leading embedded software teams in an agile environment.
Experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM).
Military Customer interface experience.
Experience in Agile development methods, including Scrum, automated testing, and continuous integration preferred.
Familiarity with a breadth of software tools, such as CMake, Eclipse, Jenkins, DOORS, etc
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Git, Subversion, Docker, and requirements management applications.
Strong background in software development lifecycle models and processes for department of defense contracts
Experience working on software for military applications and/or experience of working government programs.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts for model and requirements management with tools such as MagicDraw Cameo, Rhapsody, and Enterprise Architect
