Science Writer, Mid
Key Role:
Write and edit a variety of scientific and technical documentation, including scientific papers, reports, and presentations, user manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for government clients. specific functional knowledge in chemistry or materials sciences, including working and general industry knowledge. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work independently with some guidance and review or guide activities of more junior employees.
Basic Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in generating scientific and technical communications products
2+ years of experience with technical editing a variety of written products, including scientific manuscripts, manuals, and SOPs
Knowledge of multiple writing style guides and requirements
Knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office product suite, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel
Ability to translate scientific or technical information into written products for learned and lay audiences
Ability to recommend and develop a variety of technical documentation based on client needs
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Materials Science
Additional Qualifications:
Experience as a copy editor
Knowledge of Army and DoD requirements for manuals and written materials
Knowledge of version control strategies and configuration management
Secret clearance
Master’s degree preferred, Doctorate degree a plus

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $52,100.00 to $119,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
