Network Engineer

Key Role:

Design, plan, install, integrate, and maintain backbone core-area tactical and strategic communications networks, including portions of the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) and the Global Information Grid (GIG). Gather mission needs statements, Operational Requirements Capability Development Documents (ORCDD), and Capability Production Documents (CPD) for Army’s tactical communications systems and translate requirements into technical solutions that are standards-based and cost-efficient. Develop network architecture for adjacent, higher, and lower units, as well as for allied nations, other government agencies, and commercial service interfaces. Understand tactical and strategic military communications networks, as well as the architecture, protocols, security, and network management. Responsible for the engineering design, development, integration, installation, operation, and maintenance of the Tactical Network. Lead and facilitate technical discussions with internal and external organizations. Support technical tasks in the integration of Data, Voice, and Video in the Tactical Network, engineering and technical documentation and assistance in the development of technical requirements, specifications, plans and reports, software and hardware engineering, preparation of independent assessments, systems engineering, technical expertise at fielding locations, test and evaluation, architectural and interoperability support, and quality engineering. Provide technical support in Tactical Network labs, develop equipment and network configurations and products, and provide technical expertise at field locations as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in Telecom Engineering
Experience with Cisco products, including Routers, Switches, and Firewalls 
Experience with Cisco VOIP
Experience with routing Protocols and MULTICAST
Knowledge of virtualization and storage technologies, including VMware, EMC, NetApp, Microsoft, Dell, and HP
Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree
Ability to complete CompTIA Security+ Certification within 6 months of start date

Additional Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in Network Engineering
Experience with commercial communications equipment
Knowledge of radio bridging and cross banding
Knowledge of RF engineering, Tactical Communication Systems, or Program Management
Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) Certification

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $73,100.00 to $166,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
