Network Engineer
The Opportunity:
A well-designed network is critical to move data and enable the Army to achieve its missions, but how can an organization make sure its network will fit its evolving needs? Crafting the right network, with the right equipment and software, requires a combination of technical skill and careful planning. Having experience leveraging multiple paths to extend a network and knowing when to use one technology over another is key to making an adaptable and resilient network. That’s why we need an experienced network engineer like you who knows how to develop the exact network the Army needs.
As a network engineer on our team, you’ll use your experience to transport the voice, video, and data networks establishing and maintaining the transport layer environment of the Cyberspace domain through network management and enterprise systems management (NM/ESM) functions, to include fault management, configuration management, auditing and accountability measures, maintaining performance standards, and implementing security measures at all levels in support of combat information superiority and command and control. You’ll supervise and manage the operation and internetworking of telecommunications networks, network systems equipment, network nodal transmission and transport systems, network management system platforms, networked information systems, and associated personnel at both the local area and wide area network level. In addition, Network Systems Technicians and Engineers plan, install, administer, manage, maintain, integrate, operate, service, secure, optimize, and troubleshoot communications networks and networked systems connectivity and capacity to transmit information as an element of combat power.
Duties include supervising and overseeing network security planning and the implementation and use of electronic keys and frequency management to support communications networks and networked systems, managing the training of personnel on the planning, installation, administration, management, maintenance, integration, operation, servicing, securing, optimization, and troubleshooting of communications networks and networked-systems, and developing policy recommendations and providing technical guidance and advice to commanders and staff on the management and operation of Army, joint, intergovernmental, interagency, and multinational communications networks and networked-systems. You’ll create methods to overlap multiple Army networks to ensure survivability and resilience. Be familiar with End-of-Life (EOL) replacement, turn-in procedures, and be able to recommend solutions for the procurement of new systems based on operational needs and scalability.
