Calibration Coordinator
This position is responsible for the planning and management of the calibration services subcontract at McMurdo and South Pole stations. Typical activities include coordination with each Polar Services division/department (on and off-ice) ; schedule planning and analysis; cost and technical performance tracking; and monitoring, reporting and meeting the performance metrics associated with calibration services.
Position
Responsibilities:
Maintains a safe workplace program and ensures that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
Plans, schedules and executes tasks as related to calibration services.
Develops and oversees schedules and milestones for calibration operations in accordance with ASC management direction and NSF requirements.
Serves as the primary focal point for coordination of calibration services at McMurdo and South Pole stations.
Interacts with other departments within ASC and other on-ice groups to accomplish tasks, enable programs and achieve goals.
Manages the calibrations subcontract as part of the overall process. This includes coordinating the deployment process for the subcontract team.
Provides technical guidance for the calibration subcontract.
Performs other duties as required.
Required Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses:
Must have minimum 2 years coordination/administrative experience to including schedule planning.
Expected Skills and Competencies:
Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook) ; ability to accurately make updates within a computer-based system.
Strong attention to detail
Good trouble shooting skills.
Must be self-motivated and able to keep projects on target.
Preferred:
Prior experience assisting with calibrations a plus
Experience with various database programs
Physical and/or Other
Requirements:
Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods
Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica
Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer
Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF
Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position.
Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position.
Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores) , “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station) , recycling efforts & safety objectives.
Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States
