Public Affairs Specialist

       

Amentum is seeking a Public Affairs Specialist to support the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) on Congressional engagement and strategic communication. The Public Affairs Specialist will work closely with PEO IWS leadership to develop and execute effective communication strategies that advance PEO IWS’s mission and objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the legislative process, as well as experience in public affairs and strategic communication.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans to support PEO IWS’s objectives, including strategies for Congressional engagement, media relations, and stakeholder outreach.
Work closely with PEO IWS leadership to develop key messaging and talking points, and ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
Serve as a liaison between PEO IWS and Congressional stakeholders, including Members of Congress, congressional staff, and committees, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Monitor and track legislative developments that may impact PEO IWS, and provide strategic guidance on how best to respond.
Coordinate with external stakeholders, including industry partners, trade associations, and think tanks, to support PEO IWS’s strategic goals.
Develop and manage content for PEO IWS’s website, social media channels, and other communication platforms, ensuring all content is accurate, timely, and consistent with PEO IWS’s messaging and branding.
Provide support for PEO IWS’s participation in conferences, events, and other public engagements.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of related professional experience 
In Lieu of degree, High School diploma and 11 years of related professional experience 
Strong understanding of the legislative process, as well as knowledge of key policy issues related to defense and national security.
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience in developing and delivering high-quality communication products.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. ?

Desired

Qualifications:

Active Secret Clearance 
Master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
Experience working in or with the federal government, particularly in the defense or national security sectors.
Experience working with the media and developing press materials.
