Responsibilities
The NSA Summer Internship Program offers students exciting, impactful professional work opportunities (with pay and benefits!) to grow their knowledge of the Intelligence Community and federal government while advancing NSA’s two primary missions: 1) Collecting, analyzing, and producing signals intelligence; and, 2) Providing cybersecurity solutions and guidance to protect critical national infrastructure. These summer internship opportunities are open to all students who are pursuing education and degree programs that are NOT in science, engineering, technology, and mathematics (STEM) studies and will allow those selected to train and participate in various operational tours to learn how NSA conducts its mission while working alongside subject matter experts to help protect and defend the Nation from foreign adversaries.
NSA has a critical need for individuals fluent in languages other than English to support NSA’s foreign language analysis mission. Foreign language proficiency combined with a wide array of majors and minors are eligible to be considered for this program. In 2024, NSA is specifically seeking students with proficiency in Chinese, Farsi, and Russian. Individuals with fluency in other languages are also encouraged to apply.

Job Summary
Join students from across the country and lend your knowledge to national security in one of NSA’s over 30 summer internship programs. These 12 week paid programs run from mid-May to mid-August and are open to undergraduate freshman up to Ph.D. students depending on internship requirements. These internships are open to a wide variety of majors and give students the opportunity to work directly with mission-critical problems and experience the excitement of working directly in NSA spaces.
Qualifications
To be accepted into the NSA Summer Internship – Non STEM, candidates must:
– Be a U.S. citizen;
– Be eligible to be granted a TS/SCI/TK security clearance after successfully completing a background investigation that includes passing a Full-Scope Polygraph and a Psychological Evaluation;
– Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for all college work completed;
– Be a currently enrolled college student (undergraduate, graduate or doctorate program) at time of application;
– Be available and in the U.S. for operational and technical interviews and other applicable processing, both in-person and via telephone/internet, between the months of November 2023 and March 2024;

– For NSAs foreign language program, no specific major is required, but the following language proficiencies are recommended:

***Please Note: You may be required to complete an Unproctored Internet Testing (UIT) requirement measuring cognitive ability, motivation, and English proficiency.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
– Students are paid a competitive salary commensurate with their education level.
– Receive annual leave, sick leave and paid federal holidays.
– Participation in agency-wide extracurricular programs.
– Students who attend school in excess of 75 miles from their duty location are eligible for a round trip airfare ticket to and from school or mileage reimbursement up to the cost of a government-issued airline ticket. Travel reimbursement will not be provided to our location in Hawaii.
– Daily transportation to and from work is NOT provided. Students participating in the program are highly encouraged to bring a vehicle. Carpooling with other students MAY be available, but is NOT guaranteed.
– Subsidized housing accommodations are available for Summer Interns stationed at Fort Meade, MD upon request if school is located in excess of 75 miles from Fort Meade, MD.
