How Much Am I Worth? … DoD and IC compensation and incomes are not tied to market shortages, nor always the going market rate for skills. With DoD and IC contractors: You are worth what you negotiate … and that negotiation can be a challenge because the defense contractor market can be like a three layer system: essential, mission critical, job cannot go unfilled for 24 hours.

Technically, per the Defense Security Service, a Loss of Jurisdiction means:
“When an individual has an eligibility of Loss of Jurisdiction, there is no eligibility, i.e. the individual should be debriefed and no access provided until an eligibility that supports access is entered by a CAF. Loss of Jurisdiction is usually posted when an individual has no affiliation with an Industry Facility.”
Translation: If the security clearance process gets interrupted then your existing clearance and level of access should be yanked and terminated.
Could another employer pick up the process? Yes. Maybe. Does not happen often.

My Point: Know your skillset and LOCAL labor market. Even then, know where you fit in the economy. In my county, people who work in the county earn less than 50% of those that work travel out of it to work. Go figure. Really. Go figure … there is a reason for that. Know you and your market.
