What is your Marketplace Salary Value?

How Much Am I Worth? … DoD and IC compensation and incomes are not tied to market shortages, nor always the going market rate for skills. With DoD and IC contractors: You are worth what you negotiate … and that negotiation can be a challenge because the defense contractor market can be like a three layer system: essential, mission critical, job cannot go unfilled for 24 hours.

Changing Jobs with Interim Clearance? OMG! Red Flags Alert!

https://www.dss.mil/ma/tw/dvd/vroc/eligibility/Thinking about changing jobs while your security clearance is in interim status?

Or has an employer submitted your paperwork for a clearance but things are still in process?

? Are you at risk of Loss of Jurisdiction?

Below is a video by a respected Security Clearance Legal Advisor Annie Stellato that plainly explains what Loss of Jurisdiction means, and how it works.

Video by Annie Stellato, founder of Stellato Consulting.

Annie Stellato has held various positions supporting national security over the last 14 years. She has an extensive background in security policy, regulations and processes as they apply to collateral security clearances, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access, and Special Access Programs (SAP) for both Government entities and Cleared Defense Contractors.

Technically, per the Defense Security Service, a Loss of Jurisdiction means:

“When an individual has an eligibility of Loss of Jurisdiction, there is no eligibility, i.e. the individual should be debriefed and no access provided until an eligibility that supports access is entered by a CAF. Loss of Jurisdiction is usually posted when an individual has no affiliation with an Industry Facility.”

Translation: If the security clearance process gets interrupted then your existing clearance and level of access should be yanked and terminated.

Could another employer pick up the process? Yes. Maybe. Does not happen often.

Average Incomes by State – What is the Reality?

Income and Salaries / Good story but the numbers do not apply to a great many citizens in the states discussed. Numbers without context are misleading, and be grossly so.

SALARIES and ‘averages’ have little relationship. What is the median income vice mean (average). That is closer to reality … but still is not reality that you should expect to earn.

For example, Virginia:
  • Median: $71,535 (50% earn above/below this)
  • Mean (Average): $94,229 … really?
Something does not compute. But if we look at Median Income … (the more better number =^) … we find that a whole lot of Virginians are not actually making anything near that amount of money. >>> Can explain but takes more than 25 words. Invite me for coffee and cookies.

My Point: Know your skillset and LOCAL labor market. Even then, know where you fit in the economy. In my county, people who work in the county earn less than 50% of those that work travel out of it to work. Go figure. Really. Go figure … there is a reason for that. Know you and your market.
